The Living Books of EKOLA

The Living Books is an international movement for human rights and multicultural society which uses the means of meeting and talking as the way to prevent prejudice and discrimination. The idea originated in Denmark and since the year 2000, when first such meetings were organized at the Roskilde festival, the movement has spread all over the world. On 26th May, within the "Cultural Diversity in EKOLA" project, our students could talk to the "living books", that is their friends from IB Diploma Programme, who come from various parts of the world, e.g. from Colombia, Korea, Ukraine, Pakistan, Taiwan, the United Arab Emirates, the USA or Poland. The Living Books activity turned out to be not only an excellent opportunity to make new friends, but constituted a valuable extension of Mr Andrzej Polański's (History teacher) interesting debate "The Others", inspired by Ryszard Kapuściński's features, in which Junior High School and IB Diploma Programme students paticipated a couple of days before.
