Creativity

- exploring and extending ideas leading to an original or interpretive product or performance
Within Creativity / Activity / Service programme and its Creativity component, IB Diploma students work in variety of fields. They run blogs, paint, compose music, take pictures, write, make movies, respond creatively to all sorts of texts of culture, use creative thinking while approaching different issues, which gives them a wide range of opportunities for self-development. Actions taken in Creativity often contribute to big projects such as European Youth Parliament, Model United Nations, or else international youth exchange projects.

Below, there are a few examples of EKOLA IB Diploma students' creative accomplishments:

  • film reviews written by preIB and IB students - see our film blog, Movies We Live By, section "Students' Reviews"
  • essay, feature, column - see what our students write about
  • Agnieszka Young's glass painting (IB Diploma graduate of 2015); more works in our gallery

  • Krzysztof Matuszewski's photographs (IB Diploma graduate of 2012); more photos in our gallery

  • Michał Belka (IB Diploma graduate of 2010) - photography:

  - and more in the gallery

  • Alek Sajnach (IB Diploma graduate of 2008) as a musician rehearsing and playing a concert:

  • Magda Czerpita and Alek Sajnach (IB Diploma graduates of 2008), proposed their own visual representation of IB Diploma ideas in the form of a poster, which was displayed for the first time on 21 March 2007, during School Day of International Education:

  • In the school year 2005/2006, the students of Year preIB, first preIB in EKOLA history, made a short movie titled Talking Heads 2006 (Gadające Głowy 2006), having been inspired by the same title 15-minute film by Krzysztof Kieślowski made in 1980. In Kieślowski's film, three questions were asked to people aged from 1 to 100 years old: How old are you?, Who are you? and What do you expect of life? 25 years after Kieślowski, our students did exactly the same. Their movie was made in the same country, Poland, yet now so different when compared to the reality in which Kieślowski lived, as far as economy, culture and political system are concerned, so much more developed and cosmopolitan. Watching the 1980 film and Talking Heads made in 2006, we can discern differences but also numerous similarities in the way people respond to the above mentioned fundamental questions, which every human being probably asks themselves at least once in their lives.
