Admission to IB1

IB1 - year 11 of education; year 1 of the two-year IBDP

The following documents should be submitted in the school secretary or IBDP coordinator's office:

by 14th June:

by 28th June:

  • previous school grade report
  • copy of passport identification page
  • health record (if applicable)
  • two passport-size photos

The entrance exam fee is 200 PLN and should be paid in cash at the school or to the school bank account:

The entrance exam consists of 3 parts: written exam in the native language (Polish or English), written exam in mathematics, written and oral exam in English as the second language.

  • Exam in the native language has a form of a commentary on a given extract from poetry or prose which should include its analysis and interpretation, based on guiding questions; duration of the exam – 1h30m.
  • Exam in English as the second language consists of two components: 
    the written component: listening comprehension, reading comprehension, use of English (completing a text with missing words, word formation, rephrasing sentences with respect to their lexis, syntax, grammar structures), writing task (written response to a text - 200-250 words; minimum 5-sentence responses to a few open questions); duration of the written component – 1h30
    the oral component: candidate’s response to a question / topic assigned by the teacher; duration of the conversation – apprx 10m

Topics which may appear in the open questions of the written component of the exam and in its oral component:

  1. Global issues in the contemporary world (climate changes, impact of man on nature, racism and xenophobia, addictions, hunger, consequences of rapid technological development, etc.)
  2. Art (painting, film, theatre, music, literature, fashion, etc)
  3. Most significant scientific and technological inventions of the 20th and 21st centuries
  4. Communication and media
  5. Meaning of native language and foreign languages in one's life
  6. Issues of identity and belonging
  7. What do I know about IB Diploma Programme and why do I want to learn in it?
